When ObjectEach addresses a well-formed empty JSON object, the parser shall emit no entry callbacks.

This requirement changed after its last recorded review, so approval is stale. Automated checks pass.

Specification

The requirement exactly as authored — its complete prose text and, where present, the formal FRETish sentence it compiles to.

Description

When ObjectEach addresses a well-formed empty JSON object, the parser shall emit no entry callbacks.

FRETish formula
the parser shall always satisfy !addressed_object_is_well_formed | !addressed_object_is_empty | empty_object_produces_no_entries

Rationale & tags

Why this requirement exists, and how it is categorised.

Empty-object behavior is externally visible and should be reviewed independently from non-empty entry reporting, malformed-input failure, and callback error propagation.

The formula requires a well-formed empty object to emit no entry callbacks. In objectEachConfig, after skipping the opening brace, the first-token check at parser.go:1939 correctly compares against '}' and returns nil before entering the entry loop, so {} produces zero callbacks. Note this object sentinel is genuinely correct '}' (unlike the mutated array sentinel at 1763 in SYS-REQ-028). TestObjectEach and the MC/DC witnesses (mcdc_spec_witnesses_test.go:1064 @Row3) assert zero callbacks on {}, and Row1 confirms a non-empty object still fires per-entry.

Obligations

What this requirement must witness to be considered satisfied — the required evidence, and the tests that discharge each one.

The tests that discharge each obligation need a synced audit

The evidence matrix behind each obligation comes from the audit index, which is produced by running an audit — not read from git. Nothing here means unknown — not that the requirement has no obligations.

Formula evidence

The formal formula behind this requirement, the variables it is written over, and the tests that exercise it (each term is explained inline).

FRETish formula

the parser shall always satisfy !addressed_object_is_well_formed | !addressed_object_is_empty | empty_object_produces_no_entries

Variables

NameTypeDirectionDescription
addressed_object_is_well_formedTrue when ObjectEach is operating on a well-formed addressed JSON object.
addressed_object_is_emptyTrue when ObjectEach is operating on an addressed object that contains no entries.
empty_object_produces_no_entriesTrue when ObjectEach emits no entry callbacks for a well-formed empty addressed object.

MC/DC truth table· 4 rows

Each row assigns the formula's conditions (T/F) and shows the Result— the formula's value for that input row, not a test pass/fail. A row proves a condition when flipping only that condition flips the outcome. The test that covers each row is linked.
