Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Support non-interactive updates: omarchy update --yes flagrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:24 UTC via poll

Problem

omarchy update launches an interactive TUI confirmation prompt that cannot accept input from non-TTY shells. This blocks:

  • SSH sessions without PTY allocation
  • Automated/scheduled update pipelines
  • AI agent-driven maintenance (e.g. devin CLI sessions)

Current workaround

sudo env OMARCHY_ALLOW_DIRECT_PACMAN=1 pacman -Syu --noconfirm

This bypasses the Omarchy wrapper entirely, skipping the update transcript, snapshot, keyrings, migrations, and post-update hooks that omarchy update handles.

Proposal

Add a --yes / -y flag to omarchy update that:

  1. Skips the interactive confirmation prompt
  2. Still runs the full Omarchy update pipeline (transcript, snapshot, hooks, restart checks)
  3. Prints a non-interactive summary to stdout instead of the TUI
omarchy update --yes # non-interactive, full pipeline

Context

  • Discovered during automated system maintenance on an Arch + Omarchy workstation
  • The OMARCHY_ALLOW_DIRECT_PACMAN=1 escape hatch exists but is only surfaced in the pre-transaction hook error message, not in docs
  • AI agent runtimes (Devin CLI, Claude Code, etc.) cannot interact with TUI prompts

Not checked yet. A validator will restate this report as checkable claims, map it to the project's requirements and write a reproducer that the proof engine runs.
