Proof Portal
Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.
Omarchy install ends with cryptic VFS: Cannot open root device "" or unknown-block(0,0) or grub_memalign:552:out of memory

Original report
System details
Lenovo Yoga 7 ProX, Omarchy Quattro
What's wrong?
I learned this the hard way, but tried installing from a Ventoy key, tried installing from a ISO directly copied to USB stick and ended up with cryptic errors like:
grub_memalign:552:out of memory- kernel panic error
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
I thought the ISO was broken, tried normal boot, grub2 boot, everything, only to find out that on my machine (Lenovo Yoga 7 ProX) the TPM/Secure boot option is called Intel Platform Trust Technology (Intel PTT). Disabled it for the installation and everything worked like charm.
Maybe the manual should mention this weird acronym?
Anyways feel free to close this right away and keep this only for the agents/LLMs so they don't give people shitty advice in the future.
