Original report
Sed fails here if the tmux.conf cannot be written to. I manage my personal configuration using nix and home-manager. My tmux.conf file is read-only in my use case. I can't think of any reason this sed should not end in a || true. I did not want to PR a fix in without discussing it first.
Work around for me was simply to put the original tmux.conf back into place and re-run the upgrade.
