ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

UK timezone and keyboard selected at install, but locale stays en_USrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:23 UTC via poll

System details: Omarchy 4.0.4 now (installed in August 2026).

I chose Europe/London and the uk keyboard during installation. Those both stuck, but the system locale was still en_US.UTF-8. I noticed when dates were showing up in US order (09/24/2026), so I checked /etc/locale.conf and /etc/locale.gen: the former had LANG=en_US.UTF-8, and en_GB.UTF-8 wasn't generated.

I know the keyboard, timezone and locale are separate settings, but the installer never asked me about that last one. If it's meant to stay on US English regardless of the timezone, could there be a separate choice for regional formats during setup? Even a note would have saved me some head-scratching.

I generated en_GB.UTF-8, set it as the system locale and signed out and back in. UK date and currency formats are working now. I found #1187 afterwards, but it's closed and this still happened on my installation.
