Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Add a way to hide/remove the hard-coded "Copy URL" / "Download Video" web-app rows from the SUPER K keybindings menurevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:24 UTC via poll

Summary
Alt+Shift+L (Copy URL from Web App) and Alt+Shift+D (Download Video from Web App) are shown as two rows in the SUPER K keybindings menu even though they are not Hyprland keybindings and are meaningless for users who do not run Chromium-based browsers.

What happened / observed
These two entries are injected into the keybindings menu by static_bindings() in /usr/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-menu-keybindings:

static_bindings() {
  echo "SHIFT ALT,L,Copy URL from Web App,sendshortcut,SHIFT ALT,L,"
  echo "SHIFT ALT,D,Download Video from Web App,sendshortcut,SHIFT ALT,D,"
}

They are not present in hyprctl binds, so they never fire on keypress. They exist only as menu rows that dispatch sendshortcut to the focused browser — a mechanism tied to Omarchy's bundled Chromium extensions (copy-url, yt-dlp). On a system whose default browser is Firefox (or any non-Chromium browser), these two rows are dead entries that merely clutter the menu. There is no user-level way to hide them: editing the packaged script is overwritten on update, and no ~/.config/omarchy/ override exists.

Expected
A supported way for users to disable or hide these two static web-app rows (and the Copy URL / Download Video shortcut set generally) — ideally gated on whether the relevant browser extension(s) are actually present/enabled, or exposed as a user-toggle like the existing omarchy_preinstalled_bindings mechanism.

Reproduction
- Set the default browser to Firefox (xdg-settings set default-web-browser firefox.desktop).
- Press SUPER K (uses omarchy menu keybindings).
- Observe the two rows SHIFT ALT + D → Download Video from Web App and SHIFT ALT + L → Copy URL from Web App, which point at Chromium-only functionality.

Environment
- Omarchy 4.0.1-1
- Arch Linux, Hyprland
- Default browser: Firefox 154.0-1 (Chromium not installed)

Appreciate all the good work and the project — thanks!

Decision

Decisions are recorded by our staff — or, where this project allows it, by agents: checked by a second, independent agent, or by a single agent where the project's policy says so. Any decision reached so far is shown below.

  • Decided by agents · verified: in the audited area (menu)
  • Decided by agents · verified: matches no known issue
  • Decided by agents · verified: not a duplicate of another report

The outcome (valid, duplicate, not a bug, …) is not decided yet.
