ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

No analog audio on MECHREVO YAOSHI (Panther Lake) — Senary SN6245 SoundWire codec unsupported

Summary

On Omarchy 4.0.1, a MECHREVO YAOSHI (Intel Core Ultra 7 356H / Panther Lake) has silent internal speakers. SOF firmware boots, but the ACPI-reported SoundWire codec (mfg_id 0x0496 / part_id 0x6245, Senary SN6245) is not in the kernel SoundWire codec/machine tables. The driver falls back to HDMI-only skl_hda_dsp_generic. PipeWire ends up on auto_null (Dummy Output).

This is not an Omarchy config / PipeWire bug. It is an upstream kernel + vendor gap. Filing here so Omarchy can track this hardware as currently unsupported, distinct from the Cirrus PTL issues.

Upstream SOF tracker (open, no patch): https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/issues/5885

System

  • Machine: MECHREVO YAOSHI Series / Standard, SKU 0001
  • BIOS: N.1.05MRO13 (2026-06-18)
  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 356H (Panther Lake)
  • Audio PCI: 8086:e328 Intel Core Ultra (Series 3) HD Audio, subsystem 1d05:30b3 (AIstone Global Limited)
  • Codec: Senary Technology SN6245 over SoundWire link 3 (mfg_id 0x0496, part_id 0x6245, version 0x3). Windows enumerates SN6245 AMP / MIC / UAJ.
  • Kernel: 7.1.9-arch1-2 (linux 7.1.9.arch1-2)
  • Firmware: sof-firmware 2025.12.2-1 (ADSPFW 2.14.1.1 boots), linux-firmware 20260810-2
  • Userspace: Omarchy 4.0.1-1, pipewire 1.6.8, wireplumber 0.5.15
  • Driver in use: sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl

Symptoms

  • Internal speakers silent. No analog / headphone PCM.
  • pactl get-default-sink → auto_null.
  • aplay -l shows only HDMI on sof-hda-dsp (plus NVIDIA HDMI). No analog device.
  • DSP firmware loads cleanly. No SOF firmware errors.

Root cause (from journalctl -b -k)

sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: No SoundWire machine driver found for the ACPI-reported configuration:
sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: link 3 mfg_id 0x0496 part_id 0x6245 version 0x3
sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: part id 0x6245 is not supported

sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: using HDA machine driver skl_hda_dsp_generic now
sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: Topology file: intel/sof-ipc4-tplg/sof-hda-generic-idisp.tplg

sof-audio-pci-intel-ptl 0000:00:1f.3: Booted firmware version: 2.14.1.1

Mainline sound/hda/codecs/senarytech.c only supports the HDA SN6186 (0x1fa86186). There is no SoundWire codec driver / soc_sdw_utils.c entry / SOF topology for 0x0496:0x6245.

Not a duplicate of existing Omarchy audio issues

Searched audio, sound, SOF, SoundWire, Panther, Dummy, speaker, YAOSHI, Senary, 6245. Closest:

  • #5557 — ASUS UX5406AA PTL + Cirrus CS42L43/CS35L56. Different codec; that path has upstream PRs.
  • #6001 — ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 PTL + CS42L45.
  • #6110 — Arrow Lake Dummy Output because sof-firmware was not installed. Here firmware boots.

Same vendor family, different part: thesofproject/linux#5832 (Senary 0x6244 on Wildcat Lake). Intel collaborator @bardliao (2026-07-08): the codec vendor must upstream the machine driver in sound/soc/sdw_utils/soc_sdw_utils.c; otherwise they cannot support it.

What I've ruled out

  • Not PipeWire/WirePlumber config — no analog PCM exists in the kernel.
  • Not missing sof-firmware — ADSPFW 2.14.1.1 loads.
  • Not mute/mixer — HDMI-only topology, no analog controls.
  • Kernel bump 7.1.8 → 7.1.9 did not change the match failure.

Reproduce

  1. Install Omarchy on MECHREVO YAOSHI (PTL, audio PCI 8086:e328 / SSID 1d05:30b3).
  2. Boot.
  3. journalctl -b -k | grep 6245 → part id 0x6245 is not supported.
  4. pactl get-default-sink → auto_null.

Diagnostics

dmesg + alsa-info: https://gist.github.com/jfdnet/f59e0b9e3263c3f06435eaa622fc06cf

Asks

Omarchy cannot fix this locally (no quirk/topology exists to backport). Useful outcomes:

  1. Track this machine as no analog audio until Senary upstreams SN6245 SoundWire (codec + machine table + topology).
  2. Do not conflate with the Cirrus PTL work in #5557 / linux-ptl.

Contacting Senary separately ([email protected] / [email protected]) with the same diagnostics and Intel's request in #5832.
