System details
Omarchy 4.0.1-1 Kernel: 7.1.9-arch1-2 The issue occurs on Omarchy 4.0.1-1. After rolling back to Omarchy 4.0.0-1: Kernel: 7.1.8-arch1-3 YouTube videos render and play correctly. Hardware: NVIDIA GPU Browser: Chromium-based browser
What's wrong?
After upgrading from Omarchy 4.0.0-1 to Omarchy 4.0.1-1, YouTube videos no longer render correctly in the browser. Videos either fail to play or the video content is not rendered/displayed correctly.
I was able to reproduce the issue after upgrading to Omarchy 4.0.1-1.
Steps to reproduce:
- Start with Omarchy 4.0.0-1.
- Upgrade to Omarchy 4.0.1-1.
- Open YouTube in a Chromium-based browser.
- Play any YouTube video.
- The video does not render/play correctly.
I then rolled back to my Omarchy 4.0.0-1 snapshot using:
omarchy-snapshot restore
I restored snapshot 3, which was:
Omarchy 4.0.0-1
Kernel: 7.1.8-arch1-3
After rebooting into 4.0.0-1, I tested YouTube again and the videos rendered and played correctly.
Therefore:
Omarchy 4.0.0-1 + kernel 7.1.8-arch1-3 → YouTube works correctly
Omarchy 4.0.1-1 + kernel 7.1.9-arch1-2 → YouTube does not render/play correctly
Rolling back to 4.0.0-1 immediately resolves the issue.
This appears to be a regression introduced by the 4.0.1 update or one of the packages updated with it. Possible areas to investigate include the kernel, NVIDIA/Mesa graphics stack, VA-API, FFmpeg, Vulkan, or browser hardware acceleration.
I can also provide the output of omarchy-debug if needed.
