A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

omarchy-hyprland-window-pop makes six sequential hyprctl round-trips to pop one windowrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:24 UTC via poll

omarchy-hyprland-window-pop sends each Hyprland action as its own hyprctl dispatch process and socket:

hypr_dispatch() {
  local lua="$1"
  shift
  hyprctl dispatch "$lua" >/dev/null 2>&1 || hyprctl dispatch "$@" >/dev/null
}

Popping a tiled window is six of those (float, resize, move/center, pin, z-order, tag). Unpopping is three. Each call pays process startup and a compositor round-trip, so the window visibly steps through the pop instead of landing in one go.

Expected

Queue the lua commands and flush them with one hyprctl --batch. Keep the sequential dispatch path as a fallback if --batch fails.
