Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

omarchy share clipboard sends an empty file when the clipboard holds an image (e.g. a screenshot)revision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:24 UTC via poll

What happened

After taking a screenshot with omarchy screenshot (which copies it to the
clipboard via wl-copy --type image/png), sharing it via LocalSend's
"clipboard" option (omarchy share clipboard) sends a 0-byte file instead of
the image.

Expected

The screenshot image should be sent to the target device.

Root cause

/usr/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-menu-share handles the clipboard mode like
this:

TEMP_FILE=$(mktemp --suffix=.txt)
wl-paste >"$TEMP_FILE"

wl-paste with no --type infers text/plain by default. When the
clipboard only offers image/png (as it does after a screenshot), that
inference fails and wl-paste writes nothing, exits 1, and the script
happily hands the resulting empty .txt file to LocalSend.

Reproduction

omarchy capture screenshot fullscreen slurp # or any screenshot flow
wl-paste -l # -> image/png
TEMP_FILE=$(mktemp --suffix=.txt); wl-paste >"$TEMP_FILE"
stat -c%s "$TEMP_FILE" # -> 0

For comparison, passing the correct type works fine:
wl-paste --type image/png | wc -c # -> full image size

Suggested fix

In omarchy-menu-share, detect the clipboard's actual mime type (e.g. via
wl-paste -l) and pass it to wl-paste --type <mime>, and give the temp
file a matching extension (e.g. .png) instead of hardcoding .txt.

System info

  • omarchy version: 4.0.1-1
  • wl-clipboard: 2.3.0
