Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

What's wrong?

Bug Report: Omarchy Quattro fails to boot/install on Lenovo Legion 5

System Information

  • Manufacturer / Model: Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6 (Type 82JW)
  • Motherboard (Baseboard): LENOVO LNVNB161216 (SDK0T76461 WIN)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H (8 cores / 16 threads, ~3.2 GHz)
  • RAM: 32 GB (32,620 MB reported)
  • GPU (discrete): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU (PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_25E0)
  • GPU (integrated): AMD Radeon Graphics (built into Ryzen 7 5800H)
  • Storage:
  • Samsung SSD 980 1TB (NVMe)
  • WDC PC SN730 SDBPNTY-512G-1101 (512 GB NVMe)
  • BIOS/UEFI: LENOVO HHCN24WW, released 11/23/2021, SMBIOS 24WW
  • Current OS: Windows 11 Home (build 26200)

USB Media Used

  • Drive: SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB Device (USB flash drive, ~7.8 GB)
  • Firmware Revision: 1.00
  • Imaging tool: Balena Etcher
  • Two separate ISO downloads and flashes were attempted — both failed identically.

Issue Description

While booting the Omarchy Quattro installer from the USB drive, the system displays only the Omarchy logo with no further details, loading screens, or progress. It remains stuck on the logo indefinitely (waited up to 20 minutes with no progress).

  • Pressing Escape reveals: SSH: Can't access TTY; job control turned off.
  • Pressing Escape again returns to the Omarchy logo screen.
  • Re-flashing a freshly downloaded ISO with Balena Etcher did not resolve the issue.

Steps Already Attempted

  1. Disabled Secure Boot in BIOS — still failed.
  2. Switched GPU mode in BIOS from Hybrid to Discrete Graphics (to rule out the AMD iGPU / NVIDIA hybrid issue) — still failed.
  3. Re-downloaded the ISO and re-flashed with Balena Etcher — still failed.

Expected Behavior

The installer should proceed past the logo to loading screen(s) and eventually reach the setup/partitioning interface.

Actual Behavior

Boot hangs on the Omarchy logo; console shows SSH: Can't access TTY; job control turned off when Escape is pressed. No boot progress is ever shown.
