Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Hotkeys manual incorrectly lists Backspace for file-manager navigationrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:24 UTC via poll

Description

The File Manager section of the Omarchy hotkeys manual documents:

Backspace | Go back one folder

On a current Omarchy installation, the default file manager is stock Nautilus and pressing Backspace does not navigate.

Manual page: https://omarchy.org/manual/hotkeys/#file-manager

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch the default file manager with Super + Shift + F.
  2. Open a child folder.
  3. Press Backspace.
  4. Observe that Nautilus does not navigate.

Actual behavior

Backspace has no folder-navigation action in Nautilus.

The installed Nautilus shortcut definitions report:

  • Alt + Left — Go Back (navigation history)
  • Alt + Right — Go Forward
  • Alt + Up — Go Up (parent folder)

No Omarchy configuration override mapping Backspace to Nautilus navigation was found.

Expected documentation

Please replace the Backspace entry with the intended Nautilus shortcut:

  • If "back" means navigation history: Alt + Left
  • If "one folder" means the parent directory: Alt + Up

It may also be useful to distinguish those two operations in the wording.

Environment

  • Omarchy: 4.0.0
  • Nautilus: 50.2.2
