Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Original report
Summary
Screenshot editor does not close on Enter in the default Omarchy screenshot flow. After taking a screenshot and opening the annotation editor, pressing Enter copies + saves the annotated image but the editor window stays open — it only closes with Escape. It reads as a "stuck" editor.
Steps to reproduce
- Run
omarchy screenshot(defaultslurpmode) or the screenshot keybind. - The notification "Screenshot saved to clipboard and file — Edit with Super + Alt + ," appears. Click it (or press
Super + Alt + ,) to open the editor. - Annotate (add an arrow/box/text, etc.).
- Press Enter (the natural "I'm done" gesture).
Actual: the image is copied to the clipboard and written to the screenshot file, but the editor window remains open. It does not close.
Expected: Enter closes the editor after saving, matching the previous system's satty editor behavior ("save and close on Enter").
Root cause
Omarchy's capture script defaults the editor to $OMARCHY_SCREENSHOT_EDITOR = tensaku-edit (see /usr/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-capture-screenshot). The shipped /usr/bin/tensaku-edit wrapper (owned by the tensaku package) is invoked with only the image path, so it supplies the flags itself:
exec tensaku \
--filename "$1" \
--output-filename "$1" \
--actions-on-enter save-to-clipboard \
--save-after-copy \
--copy-command wl-copyNote: no `--early-exit`. In Tensaku, --early-exit is documented as "Exit directly after copy/save action." Without it, Enter copies + saves but deliberately keeps the editor open for continued annotation. This is a behavior mismatch with the satty editor that Omarchy previously used, which the wrapper's own header comment claims it is supposed to match.
Suggested fix
Add --early-exit to the tensaku wrapper so Enter closes the editor after copying/saving, e.g.:
exec tensaku \
--filename "$1" \
--output-filename "$1" \
--actions-on-enter save-to-clipboard \
--save-after-copy \
--copy-command wl-copy \
--early-exitSince /usr/bin/tensaku-edit ships with the tensaku package, this either needs to be coordinated with the Tensaku maintainer or Omarchy should set $OMARCHY_SCREENSHOT_EDITOR to a wrapper it owns that adds --early-exit.
Notes / severity
- Low severity. Nothing is lost today: the base screenshot is already saved to disk and the clipboard before the editor opens; the editor is optional annotation. Escape closes it.
- This is a UX/behavior regression from the earlier satty editor, not a crash or data-loss bug.
omarchy debugis listed underomarchy --helpin 4.0.0-1 but returns "Unknown Omarchy command" when run, so I couldn't attach a full debug log. Reproducing is straightforward.
Environment
- Omarchy
4.0.0-1 - tensaku
0.26.6-1 - Session: Wayland / Hyprland
- Default editor resolution:
OMARCHY_SCREENSHOT_EDITORunset → falls back totensaku-edit

### Summary
Screenshot editor does not close on Enter in the default Omarchy screenshot flow. After taking a screenshot and opening the annotation editor, pressing Enter copies + saves the annotated image but the editor window stays open — it only closes with Escape. It reads as a "stuck" editor.
### Steps to reproduce
1. Run `omarchy screenshot` (default `slurp` mode) or the screenshot keybind.
2. The notification "Screenshot saved to clipboard and file — Edit with Super + Alt + ," appears. Click it (or press `Super + Alt + ,`) to open the editor.
3. Annotate (add an arrow/box/text, etc.).
4. Press **Enter** (the natural "I'm done" gesture).
**Actual:** the image is copied to the clipboard and written to the screenshot file, but the editor window remains open. It does not close.
**Expected:** Enter closes the editor after saving, matching the previous system's satty editor behavior ("save and close on Enter").
### Root cause
Omarchy's capture script defaults the editor to `$OMARCHY_SCREENSHOT_EDITOR` = `tensaku-edit` (see `/usr/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-capture-screenshot`). The shipped `/usr/bin/tensaku-edit` wrapper (owned by the `tensaku` package) is invoked with only the image path, so it supplies the flags itself:
```bash
exec tensaku \
--filename "$1" \
--output-filename "$1" \
--actions-on-enter save-to-clipboard \
--save-after-copy \
--copy-command wl-copy
```
Note: **no `--early-exit`**. In Tensaku, `--early-exit` is documented as "Exit directly after copy/save action." Without it, Enter copies + saves but deliberately keeps the editor open for continued annotation. This is a behavior mismatch with the satty editor that Omarchy previously used, which the wrapper's own header comment claims it is supposed to match.
### Suggested fix
Add `--early-exit` to the tensaku wrapper so Enter closes the editor after copying/saving, e.g.:
```bash
exec tensaku \
--filename "$1" \
--output-filename "$1" \
--actions-on-enter save-to-clipboard \
--save-after-copy \
--copy-command wl-copy \
--early-exit
```
Since `/usr/bin/tensaku-edit` ships with the `tensaku` package, this either needs to be coordinated with the Tensaku maintainer or Omarchy should set `$OMARCHY_SCREENSHOT_EDITOR` to a wrapper it owns that adds `--early-exit`.
### Notes / severity
- **Low severity.** Nothing is lost today: the base screenshot is already saved to disk and the clipboard before the editor opens; the editor is optional annotation. Escape closes it.
- This is a UX/behavior regression from the earlier satty editor, not a crash or data-loss bug.
- `omarchy debug` is listed under `omarchy --help` in 4.0.0-1 but returns "Unknown Omarchy command" when run, so I couldn't attach a full debug log. Reproducing is straightforward.
### Environment
- Omarchy `4.0.0-1`
- tensaku `0.26.6-1`
- Session: Wayland / Hyprland
- Default editor resolution: `OMARCHY_SCREENSHOT_EDITOR` unset → falls back to `tensaku-edit`
