Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Can Omarchy be installed as a dual-boot setup alongside macOS 10.15 without formatting the entire disk?revision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:29 UTC via poll

Hello,

I have a 12-inch MacBook with 8GB of RAM, currently running macOS 10.15 (Catalina).

I'd like to try Omarchy, but I'd prefer not to format the entire disk. Is it possible to install Omarchy as a dual-boot setup alongside macOS 10.15 on this machine?

Specifically I'd love to know:

  1. Is dual-boot with macOS 10.15 officially supported or recommended?
  2. What's the recommended way to partition the disk (e.g. resize the APFS/HFS+ container and add a Linux partition) without wiping macOS?
  3. Given the limited hardware (12-inch MacBook, 8GB RAM), are there any known caveats or minimum requirements I should be aware of?
  4. Does the installer handle dual-boot partitioning, or do I need to set it up manually first?

Thanks for your time and for building Omarchy!
