Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
System details: Omarchy quattro @ 7488eade (post-4.0.0), QEMU/KVM VM, Hyprland session. Found by an automated QA pass; reproduced on a disposable worker VM.
screen_contains cannot distinguish "the text is not on screen" from "the screenshot failed", so nine acceptance assertions report content failures for capture failures.
screen_contains() {
if ! timeout 10 grim "$snapshot" 2>/dev/null; then
rm -f "$snapshot"; return 1
fi
tesseract "$snapshot" stdout --psm 11 2>/dev/null | grep -Fi -- "$text" >/dev/null(test/acceptance.d/base-test.sh:35-47)
A failed or hung grim returns exactly what "text absent" returns. Used through wait_until — nine call sites across menu-test.sh, panels-test.sh and shell-surfaces-test.sh — the result is a timeout message naming the wrong thing. On my run it produced not ok - root menu content is visible and not ok - weather location is visible when the actual cause was grim timing out:
$ timeout 15 grim /tmp/g1.png; echo "grim exit=$?"
grim exit=124The same blind spot is in screenshot() at :31-33, where timeout 10 grim ... || true returns success unconditionally. So fail() announces diagnostic artifacts that were never written, and the runner's closing line still points at the directory. After my run, all four failure screenshots were missing:
$ ls /tmp/omarchy-acceptance/
success-app-terminal.png success-bar-hidden.png success-emoji-picker-search.pngTwo lines fix it: have screen_contains call fail when grim itself fails rather than returning 1, and let screenshot report when it could not capture.
Correction, after an independent review of this report:
Refinement. Transient capture failures are retried by wait_until, so it is a sustained grim failure that gets misdiagnosed as a content timeout across the nine OCR assertions. The second half stands: failure screenshots silently fail to materialise, so capture errors need propagating out of the redirected polling command rather than being swallowed.

A failed or hung `grim` returns exactly what "text absent" returns. Used through `wait_until` — nine call sites across `menu-test.sh`, `panels-test.sh` and `shell-surfaces-test.sh` — the result is a timeout message naming the wrong thing. On my run it produced `not ok - root menu content is visible` and `not ok - weather location is visible` when the actual cause was `grim` timing out:

Refinement. Transient capture failures are retried by `wait_until`, so it is a *sustained* `grim` failure that gets misdiagnosed as a content timeout across the nine OCR assertions. The second half stands: failure screenshots silently fail to materialise, so capture errors need propagating out of the redirected polling command rather than being swallowed.
