Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
System details: Omarchy quattro @ 7488eade (post-4.0.0), QEMU/KVM VM, Hyprland session, no battery. Found by an automated QA pass; reproduced on a disposable worker VM.
SUPER + CTRL + P ("Power") does nothing at all on a machine without a battery — no panel, no message, no error.
The power panel carries the power-profile switcher and the system-info block, but shell/plugins/panels/power/Panel.qml:204 gates on visible: batteryPresent, and onOpenedChanged / onBatteryPresentChanged (:188-198, :206) call close(). So on a desktop the panel closes itself the instant it opens. default/hypr/bindings/utilities.lua:102 binds it with no hardware condition, unlike default/omarchy/omarchy-menu.jsonc:96, which gates its battery entry on "when":"omarchy-hw-laptop".

# the same hotkey shape for the other panels, same hardware:
SUPER+CTRL+A omarchy.audio -> rc=0 layers=4 (opened)
SUPER+CTRL+B omarchy.bluetooth -> rc=0 layers=4 (opened, shows "NO ADAPTER")
SUPER+CTRL+P omarchy.power -> rc=0 layers=3 (nothing)
SUPER+CTRL+W omarchy.network -> rc=0 layers=4 (opened)The shell logs the open/close fight each time:
WARN scene: QML Panel at .../panels/power/Panel.qml[9:1]: Binding loop detected for property "opened"Bluetooth gets this right — it opens a panel that says "No Bluetooth adapter". Power instead refuses to open, so a desktop user gets silence from a keybinding that is listed in the cheatsheet. Either letting the panel open without the battery block, or gating the keybinding the way the menu gates its battery entry, would fix it.
Separately worth considering: shell.toggle is declared void (shell/shell.qml:1010-1012), so a caller can never tell that nothing happened. Returning a status string the way summon does would make this class of failure visible.
Correction, after an independent review of this report:
Refinement. The panel hiding itself without a battery is deliberate; the actionable defect is that the shortcut and cheatsheet advertise it anyway, ungated, where default/omarchy/omarchy-menu.jsonc:96 gates its battery entry on omarchy-hw-laptop. The closing suggestion is also weaker than stated: returning summon()'s current success status would not detect the self-close, so surfacing this to a caller needs more than changing toggle's return type.

**System details:** Omarchy `quattro` @ 7488eade (post-4.0.0), QEMU/KVM VM, Hyprland session, no battery. Found by an automated QA pass; reproduced on a disposable worker VM.
`SUPER + CTRL + P` ("Power") does nothing at all on a machine without a battery — no panel, no message, no error.
The power panel carries the power-profile switcher and the system-info block, but `shell/plugins/panels/power/Panel.qml:204` gates on `visible: batteryPresent`, and `onOpenedChanged` / `onBatteryPresentChanged` (`:188-198`, `:206`) call `close()`. So on a desktop the panel closes itself the instant it opens. `default/hypr/bindings/utilities.lua:102` binds it with no hardware condition, unlike `default/omarchy/omarchy-menu.jsonc:96`, which gates its battery entry on `"when":"omarchy-hw-laptop"`.
```
$ omarchy-powerprofiles-list --active-state
power-saver 0
balanced 1 # power-profiles-daemon works fine here
$ omarchy-shell shell toggle omarchy.power ; echo "rc=$?"
rc=0 # no output, no error
SUPER+CTRL+P omarchy.power -> rc=0 layers=3 (nothing)
SUPER+CTRL+W omarchy.network -> rc=0 layers=4 (opened)
```
The shell logs the open/close fight each time:
```
WARN scene: QML Panel at .../panels/power/Panel.qml[9:1]: Binding loop detected for property "opened"
```
Bluetooth gets this right — it opens a panel that says "No Bluetooth adapter". Power instead refuses to open, so a desktop user gets silence from a keybinding that is listed in the cheatsheet. Either letting the panel open without the battery block, or gating the keybinding the way the menu gates its battery entry, would fix it.
