ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Quattro clipboard image preview renders oversized and covers the desktoprevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:29 UTC via poll

What happened

After upgrading to Omarchy 4.0.0 (Quattro), the native clipboard history opened with SUPER + CTRL + V can show an image preview extremely large, covering most or all of the desktop. The preview is not usefully bounded to the clipboard panel.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Run Omarchy 4.0.0.
  2. Copy a tall or high-resolution image, such as a screenshot.
  3. Press SUPER + CTRL + V to open clipboard history.
  4. Select the image entry.
  5. Observe that the image preview is oversized and covers the surrounding desktop / appears much larger than expected.

Expected behavior

The image preview should remain contained within the clipboard history panel, preserving aspect ratio and respecting the panel's bounds. Very tall or wide images should be letterboxed or scaled down rather than expanding the visible UI.

Actual behavior

The selected image is displayed extremely large and visually covers the desktop. The issue is especially apparent with a tall screenshot. The locally captured reproduction image is PNG, 1312 x 3168 pixels, approximately 6.3 MB.

System details

  • Omarchy: 4.0.0-1
  • Kernel: 7.1.7-arch1-1
  • Quickshell: 0.3.0.r20.g28771c7-1
  • GPU: NVIDIA GB202 / RTX 5090 D
  • Displays: XMD Mi TV 3840x2160 at scale 2, plus 5120x1440 monitor at scale 1.6

Investigation

The new native implementation is /usr/share/omarchy/shell/plugins/clipboard/Clipboard.qml. Its image preview uses Image.fillMode: Image.PreserveAspectFit inside the right-hand preview pane, so this may be a Quickshell/Qt sizing or scaling interaction rather than the clipboard image itself. The captured image file is valid and has normal dimensions.

Related reports found, but not duplicates:

  • #3122: Walker preview persists when switching menus; closed/fixed.
  • #4316: Walker UTF-8 clipboard crash; closed.
  • #6568: large text clipboard entries freezing the picker; closed.

This report is specifically about the Quattro native clipboard image preview sizing/geometry.
