Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 firmware update fails when ESP lacks EFI/arch directoryrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:29 UTC via poll

System details

Thinkpad T14 Gen 5, Omarchy, Limine bootloader

What's wrong?

System:
- ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 (21MDX000R2)
- Omarchy Linux
- Limine bootloader
- UKI located at /boot/EFI/Linux/omarchy_linux.efi

Firmware update:
- Lenovo System Firmware 0.1.14 -> 0.1.21

fwupd failed with:

failed to write-firmware: cannot find either EFI/systemd or EFI/arch in ESP

My ESP contained:

/boot/EFI/BOOT
/boot/EFI/Linux
/boot/EFI/limine

It did not contain:

/boot/EFI/arch
/boot/EFI/systemd

Creating an empty directory:

sudo mkdir -p /boot/EFI/arch

allowed the firmware update to complete successfully without any other changes.

After creating the directory, fwupd successfully staged the update and the system updated to firmware version 0.1.21 after reboot.

This suggests fwupd may be checking only for the existence of EFI/arch or EFI/systemd and may not correctly handle systems booting from EFI/Linux with UKIs. May want to create /boot/EFI/arch during installation as a temporary compatibility workaround until fwupd is fixed.
