Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

System details
Omarchy version: 3.1.6 - Kernel: 6.17.7-arch1-1
What's wrong?
- Omarchy version: 3.1.6
- Kernel: 6.17.7-arch1-1
- Hardware: Lenovo laptop with Intel HD 630 + NVIDIA GTX 1060 Mobile
- NVIDIA driver: 580.95.05
after the last update the system completely freezes during normal use, requiring hard reboot. Happens randomly 20-30 minutes after boot. No mouse/keyboard response .
hecking journalctl after the freeze, I noticed the kernel was stuck in a PCI resource reallocation loop right before the freeze:
Nov 08 07:49:50 kernel: pci_bus 0000:01: Allocating resources
Nov 08 07:49:54 kernel: pci_bus 0000:02: Allocating resources
...
(repeated 28 times in 2 minutes)also saw this timeout message:
Nov 08 07:53:34 systemd-udevd[561]: card1: Worker [389879] processing SEQNUM=5155 is taking a long time.Bus 0000:01 is the NVIDIA GPU, and card1 is Intel graphics audio. The system got stuck trying to allocate PCI resources repeatedly.
Root Cause :
NVIDIA's dynamic power management on hybrid graphics (Optimus) laptops causes the GPU to transition between power states, which triggers the PCI reallocation loop and freezes the system.
Fix That Worked :
Adding these kernel module options prevents the freeze:
- Create
/etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-pm.conf:
options nvidia NVreg_DynamicPowerManagement=0x00
options nvidia_drm modeset=1- Create
/etc/udev/rules.d/80-nvidia-pm.rules:
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="pci", ATTR{vendor}=="0x10de", ATTR{power/control}="on"- Rebuild initramfs:
sudo mkinitcpio -P- Reboot
Verification :
After reboot, confirm the fix:
# Note: NVreg_DynamicPowerManagement parameter won't exist in sysfs when disabled (this is expected)
cat /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/power/control # Should show: onTesting Results :
Tested the fix extensively. Before applying it, the system would freeze randomly within 20-90 minutes requiring hard reboot. After applying the fix:
- System has been running stable for multiple hours without any freezes
- No PCI reallocation loops detected in logs
- NVIDIA GPU remains stable with proper power management
- Fix confirmed working on Lenovo laptop with Intel HD 630 + NVIDIA GTX 1060 Mobile
Impact :
This affects anyone running Omarchy on hybrid graphics laptops (Intel + NVIDIA). The freeze is completely random and leaves no clean logs since it requires hard reboot.
Suggestion :
i have document this in her and hope this would prevent other users from experiencing system freezes on Optimus laptops. Happy to help test or contribute documentation.
