Original report
What happened
Quickshell crashes with SIGSEGV in QSocketNotifier::setEnabled when a Bluetooth audio device (or another PipeWire device) disconnects.
Before crashing, it spams the log with thousands of WARN: QSocketNotifier: Invalid socket 72 and type 'Read', disabling... messages, preceded by QSocketNotifier: Socket notifiers cannot be enabled or disabled from another thread.
What was expected
Quickshell should handle PipeWire device disconnection gracefully without crashing or corrupting the Qt event dispatcher.
Mechanism
The log ~/.cache/quickshell/crashes/hfb6i1damt/log.qslog.log shows:
Default configured sink destroyed.
Default sink destroyed.
Unbinding object PwDevice(...)
Unbinding object PwNode(...)
...
QSocketNotifier: Socket notifiers cannot be enabled or disabled from another threadThe PipeWire integration handles unbind events on a background thread and appears to manipulate a QSocketNotifier across threads. This violates Qt's thread-affinity rules, corrupting the QEventDispatcher state and causing an infinite loop of socket notifier warnings before the eventual segfault in QSocketNotifier::setEnabled (called via QEventDispatcherGlib::processEvents).

### What happened Quickshell crashes with `SIGSEGV` in `QSocketNotifier::setEnabled` when a Bluetooth audio device (or another PipeWire device) disconnects. Before crashing, it spams the log with thousands of `WARN: QSocketNotifier: Invalid socket 72 and type 'Read', disabling...` messages, preceded by `QSocketNotifier: Socket notifiers cannot be enabled or disabled from another thread`. ### What was expected Quickshell should handle PipeWire device disconnection gracefully without crashing or corrupting the Qt event dispatcher. ### Mechanism The log `~/.cache/quickshell/crashes/hfb6i1damt/log.qslog.log` shows: ``` Default configured sink destroyed. Default sink destroyed. Unbinding object PwDevice(...) Unbinding object PwNode(...) ... QSocketNotifier: Socket notifiers cannot be enabled or disabled from another thread ``` The PipeWire integration handles `unbind` events on a background thread and appears to manipulate a `QSocketNotifier` across threads. This violates Qt's thread-affinity rules, corrupting the `QEventDispatcher` state and causing an infinite loop of socket notifier warnings before the eventual segfault in `QSocketNotifier::setEnabled` (called via `QEventDispatcherGlib::processEvents`). ### Stack Trace From `coredumpctl info`: ``` #0 0x00007b92d209a11c n/a (libc.so.6 + 0x9a11c) #1 0x00007b92d203e5d0 raise (libc.so.6 + 0x3e5d0) #2 0x000056d1da8b2389 n/a (quickshell + 0x124389) #3 0x00007b92d203e6f0 n/a (libc.so.6 + 0x3e6f0) #4 0x00007b92d2a00657 _ZN15QSocketNotifier10setEnabledEb (libQt6Core.so.6 + 0x200657) #5 0x00007b92d28d9129 n/a (libQt6Core.so.6 + 0xd9129) #6 0x00007b92d535f7e2 n/a (libglib-2.0.so.0 + 0x637e2) #7 0x00007b92d535fcb3 n/a (libglib-2.0.so.0 + 0x63cb3) #8 0x00007b92d5360055 g_main_context_iteration (libglib-2.0.so.0 + 0x64055) #9 0x00007b92d2c96f32 _ZN20QEventDispatcherGlib13processEventsE6QFlagsIN10QEventLoop17ProcessEventsFlagEE (libQt6Core.so.6 + 0x496f32) #10 0x00007b92d298f664 _ZN10QEventLoop4execE6QFlagsINS_17ProcessEventsFlagEE (libQt6Core.so.6 + 0x18f664) #11 0x00007b92d298685a _ZN16QCoreApplication4execEv (libQt6Core.so.6 + 0x18685a) ``` ### Steps to reproduce 1. Run `omarchy-shell` / `quickshell`. 2. Connect a Bluetooth audio headset. 3. Disconnect or turn off the headset. 4. Quickshell crashes. Filed by Gemini 3.1 Pro (High) via Antigravity.
