Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
System details
- Omarchy 4.0.4-1, kernel 7.2.5-3-omarchy
- CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 265U (Arrow Lake-U)
- Camera: Intel IPU 6 (
00:05.0 Multimedia controller [0480]: Intel Corporation Core Ultra 200H/200V Series Processors IPU [8086:7d19]), sensorov08x40(ACPI HIDOVTI08F4)
What happened
install/hardware/intel/ipu7-camera.sh installs intel-ipu7-camera whenever ACPI lists OVTI08F4:
if grep -q "OVTI08F4" /sys/bus/acpi/devices/*/hid 2>/dev/null; then
omarchy-pkg-add intel-ipu7-camera
fiThe OV08X40 sensor is not unique to IPU7 (Lunar Lake). On this Arrow Lake-U laptop it sits behind an IPU6, which the in-tree intel_ipu6_isys driver handles. The IPU7 HAL only ships /usr/lib/libcamhal/plugins/ipu75xa.so, so v4l2-relayd@ipu7 fails to build its pipeline as soon as anything opens the "Hardware ISP Camera" loopback (/dev/video50), and the camera never produces a frame:
v4l2-relayd: g_param_spec_enum: assertion 'g_enum_get_value (enum_class, default_value) != NULL' failed
v4l2-relayd: gst_element_set_state: assertion 'GST_IS_ELEMENT (element)' failed
CamHAL[ERR] HalAdaptor: load_camera_hal_library, failed to open library: /usr/lib/libcamhal/plugins/ipu6epmtl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
CamHAL[ERR] HalAdaptor: get_number_of_cameras, function call is nullptromarchy hw webcam still reports success, because it only checks that a device exists.
Expected
The IPU7 stack should be installed only on IPU7 hardware, e.g. by also checking which IPU driver binds (intel_ipu6 vs intel_ipu7, or the IPU's PCI id) rather than matching the sensor alone. On IPU6 machines, the in-tree driver plus libcamera (libcamera, libcamera-ipa, pipewire-libcamera) is the path that works without an out-of-tree HAL.
Steps to reproduce
- Install Omarchy on an Arrow Lake / Meteor Lake laptop with an OV08X40 camera (IPU6).
intel-ipu7-camera,v4l2-relaydandv4l2loopback-dkmsare installed, andv4l2-relayd@ipu7is enabled.mpv av://v4l2:/dev/video50(or any app) hangs with no picture;journalctl -u v4l2-relayd@ipu7shows the errors above.
Workaround that works on this machine
sudo systemctl disable --now intel-ipu7-camera.service [email protected]
echo 'softdep ov08x40 pre: intel_cvs' | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ov08x40-cvs.conf # keep the load order the IPU7 package enforced
sudo pacman -Rns intel-ipu7-camera
sudo pacman -S libcamera libcamera-ipa pipewire-libcamera
systemctl --user restart wireplumber pipewirelibcamera's simple pipeline then drives the sensor at 30 fps and PipeWire offers it as "Built-in Front Camera" (verified with cam and a pipewiresrc capture). Note that the IPU7 package's camera-deps.conf blacklists ov08x40 so it loads after intel_cvs; without the IPU7 package that ordering needs to come from somewhere else.
