Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). System details
Dell XPS 14 (2024), Omarchy development/Quattro, Familiar theme. Exact installed revision not recorded.
What's wrong?
Familiar uses a dark bar with white text and light popup panels with dark text. The built-in Network/Wi-Fi panel inherits the bar’s foreground colour for several popup elements, producing white-on-white or low-contrast labels and controls.
To reproduce:
1. Apply Familiar: https://github.com/tcballard/omarchy-theme-familiar
2. Open the Network/Wi-Fi panel.
3. Inspect network labels, DNS choices, header controls and hover/selection states.
Expected: popup content uses the popup’s text colour.
Actual: affected elements use the bar’s text colour.
In shell/plugins/panels/network/Panel.qml, several bindings use root.bar.foreground. The hoverFill and selectedFill properties also derive from bar.foreground.
Suggested fix: use Color.popups.text for popup foregrounds and their hover/selection fills. Actual bar widgets should retain their bar colours.
Themes with matching bar and popup palettes hide this issue. Please test contrasting bar/popup palettes and check other panels for the same assumption.
Local patches corrected this, but the problem returned after updating Omarchy. The upstream quattro source still contained these bindings when checked on 21 September 2026; the update appears to have replaced the local fixes.
The separate community My Plugins panel has the same pattern, but the confirmed built-in component covered by this issue is Network.
