Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Fcitx5 not working well in Obsidianrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:27 UTC via poll

I ran into a hotkey conflict problem when I was trying to set Ctrl+Alt+H and Ctrl+Alt+L to move between windows left and right in tmux. But when I pressed Ctrl+Alt+H, a small popup appeared in the top-right corner of the screen saying "Completion enabled".

I discovered it was from something called Fcitx5, which controls input methods. When I right-clicked the input method icon in the Waybar and clicked Configure (I think), it showed me this:

<img width="446" height="358" alt="Image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/54ebf6d3-fd1f-451f-b23f-8ba8d9191d90" />

Then I installed fcitx5-configtool. Its GUI made it easy to turn off those hotkeys. Why this tool isn’t included with Omarchy by default? it’s a real lifesaver.

But then I noticed the main problem. I added an input method for Bangla (my first language) and tried to type in Bangla in Obsidian, but it didn’t work. I also noticed that the Caps Lock Omarchy emoji, name and email hotkeys aren’t working in Obsidian either, although they work fine in other apps I tried.

On my old laptop, I once set up Arch with IBus, and it worked well in Obsidian and other apps. Maybe switching to IBus will solve the problem in Omarchy too. But I’m not sure, because on my old laptop I was using i3wm instead of Hyprland. Expect this problem I like fctix5 features more than ibus(especially Quick Phrase). It would be really nice if this issue is fixed with fcitx5.

Thanks for making Omarchy. I'm really enjoying the experience overall!
