Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
What happened
After logging out of an active Hyprland session, the SDDM login/greeter screen
uses a US keyboard layout instead of the Finnish (fi) layout selected during
installation. The system-wide keymap is correctly Finnish everywhere else
(/etc/vconsole.conf has XKBLAYOUT=fi; localectl status reportsVC Keymap: fi, X11 Layout: fi), and the primary Hyprland desktop session
also correctly uses fi (via /usr/share/omarchy/default/hypr/input.lua,
which reads XKBLAYOUT from /etc/vconsole.conf).
Expected
The SDDM greeter (shown after logout, and at boot) should use the same
keyboard layout selected during install.
Root cause
/usr/share/sddm/hyprland.lua — the minimal Hyprland config Omarchy ships for
the SDDM Wayland greeter — only configures misc and animations. It never
sets input.kb_layout and doesn't reuse the vconsole-reading logic from/usr/share/omarchy/default/hypr/input.lua. Hyprland's default xkb layout
(us) is used instead, regardless of the layout chosen at install time.
Steps to reproduce
- Install Omarchy choosing a non-US keyboard layout (Finnish here).
- Log into the desktop session — layout is correctly Finnish.
- Log out (back to SDDM).
- Type on the SDDM login screen — layout is US, not Finnish.
System details
- Omarchy version: 4.0.3-1 (stable channel)
- CPU: Intel Core i5-6300U
- GPU: Intel HD Graphics 520 (Skylake-U GT2)
localectl status: VC Keymap: fi, X11 Layout: fi, X11 Model: pc105,
X11 Options: terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp
Suggested fix
Have /usr/share/sddm/hyprland.lua read /etc/vconsole.conf (mirroring the
logic already in /usr/share/omarchy/default/hypr/input.lua) and setinput.kb_layout/kb_variant accordingly, so the greeter matches the layout
chosen at install.
