Hard to read bootloader after install on old Macbook Air

Omarchy 3.0.1 ISO and MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2011) https://support.apple.com/en-us/112439

What's wrong?

Install procedure
- used USB ISO 3.0.1
- can see the install screen(s) fine
- install finishes
- reboot

I then see what looks like a bootloader window but it's "squished" the screen

I've tried Fn+Ctrl+Option+F2/3/4 etc but no luck

The above gets me to a TTY if I'm booting from the USB ISO and in the installer menus. If I do this after an install, I can also see the laptop drive and mount it but not sure which logs would be most helpful here.
