Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

First install using pacman fails due to lack of database files.revision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:35 UTC via poll

System details

Intel i7-9700k, NVIDIA RTX2080, Omarchy-3.0.1, ethernet connection

What's wrong?

When doing the first install of an additional application (in my case, tailscale), method pacman fails with the following errrors:

warning: database file for 'core' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download)

with similar errors for extra, multilib, and omarchy. I manually ran sudo pacman -Sy tailscale and it seemed to install those along with tailscale.

tailscale would then crash on attempting to run it, so I tried installing from the omarchy launcher again and it worked after that.

expected behavior here would be some sort of 'smart' recovery, where the user is prompted to run the appropriate command with a keypress in the present context, rather than opening a separate terminal, running the command and then retrying the omarchy install menu process.
