Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Comprehensive Fuzzy Search in Omarchy Menu (Super+Alt+Space) for Nested Itemsrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:35 UTC via poll

What do you need?

I would like to propose an enhancement to the search functionality within the Omarchy Menu (activated via Super + Alt + Space).

The Problem / Current Behavior
Currently, when using the fuzzy search in the Omarchy Menu, it does not consistently display all matching menu items if they are nested under different top-level categories.

Example:
If I type the search term "keybinding" I will not be able to see any results cause they are under sub sections like:

  • Setup > Keybindings

But I know an identical or related item exists under a different section, such as:

  • Learn > Keybindings

This requires the user to know the exact path or navigate manually, which defeats the purpose of the fast, fuzzy-search-driven workflow.

The Proposed Solution / Desired Behavior
The search function should be enhanced to perform a comprehensive fuzzy match against the full path (or at least the full title) of every menu item and display all results that match the search term, regardless of their top-level category.

If I type "keybindings" the menu list should display both results simultaneously, allowing me to select the one I need using the arrow keys:

keybindings
  • Learn > keybindings
  • Setup > keybindings

Benefit
This enhancement directly supports the keyboard-centric philosophy of Omarchy by:

Improving discoverability: Users don't need to know the specific category where an option is located.

Boosting efficiency: Eliminates the need for guesswork or manually browsing menu sections.

Ensuring consistency: Provides a complete and predictable search result set every time

Can I try to work on this if no one is already working? 🙂

**The Problem / Current Behavior**
Currently, when using the fuzzy search in the Omarchy Menu, it does not consistently display all matching menu items if they are nested under different top-level categories.

This requires the user to know the exact path or navigate manually, which defeats the purpose of the fast, fuzzy-search-driven workflow.
