Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Audio switcher shows device name as `null` when switching to AirPods, while the audio panel shows the correct namerevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:35 UTC via poll

What's wrong?

Describe the bug
When I trigger omarchy-cmd-audio-switch to cycle output devices, the on-screen display (OSD) message shows null as the device name specifically for my AirPods. However, the audio panel displays the correct, human-readable device name. This only affects the OSD text coming from the switch command, not the actual routing (which works).

Environment

  • Distro: Arch Linux (up to date)
  • Desktop/WM: Hyprland (Wayland)
  • Omarchy: 3.0.2
  • Audio stack: PipeWire + WirePlumber
  • Key tools:
  • pactl --version: 17.0-43-g3e2bb
  • pipewire --version: 1.4.8
  • wireplumber --version: 0.5.11
  • Shell script path: /home/grey/.local/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-cmd-audio-switch

Steps to reproduce

  1. Pair and connect AirPods (A2DP profile active). Ensure at least two output devices exist (e.g., AirPods + speakers/monitor HDMI).
  2. Run the switcher (e.g., a keybind that executes omarchy-cmd-audio-switch).
  3. Observe the OSD text: the device name shows as null.
  4. Open the audio panel: the AirPods display with the correct name.

Expected behavior
The OSD should show a human-readable device name (e.g., “AirPods Pro”) when the sink changes to the AirPods.

Actual behavior
The OSD message shows null instead of the device name, although the audio panel shows the correct name and the switch itself succeeds.

Thanks for Omarchy and the helpful audio tooling! Happy to test a proposed fix or open a PR with the change.
