Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

exFAT support missing: drives won’t mount, kernel module and tools absentrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:35 UTC via poll

System details

11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4 (4) @ 4.10 GHz, Omarchy v3.0.2, Linux 6.16.8-arch3-1

What's wrong?

I cannot mount any exFAT-formatted drives using either GUI or CLI.

  • modprobe exfat fails:

modprobe: FATAL: Module exfat not found in directory /lib/modules/6.16.8-arch3-1
* /proc/filesystems does not list exfat.
* mount.exfat and exfatprogs commands are missing.
* Drives mount fine on Fedora and Windows on the same hardware.
* System freshly installed from official Omarchy ISO v3.2.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Plug in exFAT-formatted USB drive.
  2. Try to mount via GUI or mount -t exfat /dev/sdX1 /mnt.
  3. See failure / no mount.
  4. Check for kernel module: modprobe exfat → fails.
  5. Check for tools: which mount.exfat and which exfatprogs → not found.

Expected behavior

  • Kernel exFAT module should be present and loadable.
  • exfatprogs tools should be installed and accessible.
  • Mounting exFAT drives should work out of the box.

Additional info

This appears to be missing kernel module and user-space tools in the Omarchy ISO build or installation. Please include exFAT support for seamless USB drive mounting.
