Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Package installer shows duplicate entries when using third-party repositories (e.g., CachyOS)revision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:42 UTC via poll

What do you need?

Deduplicate package entries in the package installer (omarchy-pkg-install) when using third-party Arch-compatible repositories like CachyOS, Chaotic-AUR, etc.

Current Behavior

When CachyOS repositories are added to /etc/pacman.conf (for optimized x86-64-v4/znver4 packages), packages that exist in both CachyOS and official Arch repositories appear twice in the fzf picker, even though both show identical information from the highest-priority repository.

Example:
- unrar appears twice in the list
- thunar-archive-plugin appears twice in the list
- Both entries show the same repository (cachyos-extra-znver4) and version in the preview

Why This Happens

The script ~/.local/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-pkg-install uses:

pkg_names=$(pacman -Slq | fzf "${fzf_args[@]}")

pacman -Slq lists package names from all repositories without deduplication. When a package exists in multiple repos, it appears multiple times in the output.

Proposed Solution

Deduplicate package names to show only the highest-priority repository version:

# Current:
pkg_names=$(pacman -Slq | fzf "${fzf_args[@]}")

# Proposed:
pkg_names=$(pacman -Slq | awk '\!seen[$1]++' | fzf "${fzf_args[@]}")

This preserves only the first occurrence of each package name (highest-priority repository in /etc/pacman.conf).

Impact

  • Severity: Low (cosmetic/UX issue)
  • Functionality: Not affected - installing either duplicate installs the correct version
  • User experience: Reduced visual clutter, less confusion for users with third-party repos

System Details

AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395, AMD Radeon 8060S, Omarchy 3.0.2
CachyOS kernel 6.17.1-2-cachyos with CachyOS repositories (cachyos-znver4, cachyos-core-znver4, cachyos-extra-znver4)

Thank you for the wonderful Omarchy project\!

**What do you need?**

Deduplicate package entries in the package installer (`omarchy-pkg-install`) when using third-party Arch-compatible repositories like CachyOS, Chaotic-AUR, etc.

## Current Behavior

When CachyOS repositories are added to `/etc/pacman.conf` (for optimized x86-64-v4/znver4 packages), packages that exist in both CachyOS and official Arch repositories appear **twice** in the fzf picker, even though both show identical information from the highest-priority repository.

**Example:**
- `unrar` appears twice in the list
- `thunar-archive-plugin` appears twice in the list
- Both entries show the same repository (cachyos-extra-znver4) and version in the preview

## Why This Happens

The script `~/.local/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-pkg-install` uses:

```bash
pkg_names=$(pacman -Slq | fzf "${fzf_args[@]}")
```

`pacman -Slq` lists package names from **all repositories** without deduplication. When a package exists in multiple repos, it appears multiple times in the output.

## Proposed Solution

Deduplicate package names to show only the highest-priority repository version:

```bash
# Current:
pkg_names=$(pacman -Slq | fzf "${fzf_args[@]}")
# Proposed:
pkg_names=$(pacman -Slq | awk '\!seen[$1]++' | fzf "${fzf_args[@]}")
```

This preserves only the first occurrence of each package name (highest-priority repository in `/etc/pacman.conf`).

## Impact

- **Functionality:** Not affected - installing either duplicate installs the correct version
- **User experience:** Reduced visual clutter, less confusion for users with third-party repos
