Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Trouble shooting instructions for hanging bootrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:42 UTC via poll

System details

Intel i9-13900K, AMD Radeon RX7900XTX, Soundblaster AE-9

What's wrong?

I have been able to successfully set up a dual boot configuration on my machine with Windows 11 and Omarchy. The limine boot loader menu gives me the option to choose Windows 11 or Omarchy linux.

Omarchy linux works fine as long as my Sandblaster AE-9 card isn't installed into a PCI slot on the motherboard. When the sound card is installed Omarchy gets stuck booting. I see the boot progress bar reach 100% but then it hangs and never gets past the loading bar screen.

I am a software engineer and understand that there are no linux drivers for the Soundblaster AE-9 for Linux, indeed I would be interested in attempting to write one.

My immediate problem is that I would like to be able to blacklist the Soundblaster AE-9 so that I can just get into Omarchy and to do this I would like to access to the logs for troubleshooting. Could I have some instructions for how to diagnose problems with a failing boot please - for example how do I get access to a terminal and logs during the hung boot process?

I know I can just take the card out to get into Omarchy but I would like to see the logs and be able to look into writing a driver. Also I would also like the card to be installed so that I can still have it when I am using Windows.
