Login splash screen missing since update (but I can still login blind)

Thinkpad X1 gen13, Intel 255U (GPU integrated)
What's wrong?
Since updating I no longer see the login screen, as if its hidden. I can still type my password and can log in as normal but there is no enter password box or graphical screen just totally black. I reinstalled 3.0.2 and the issue is gone, so this is something going on with the new version.
Pressing Esc does not show the text prompt but I’m still able to type the password and log is as normal.
I’m not using an external display, laptop screen only.
It’s as if my laptop display is “unplugged” but I don’t feel like it’s a laptop driver/display issue as I going back to 3..0.2 fixes the problem.
I have tried both updating Omarchy and also re-installing fresh from an ISO and this still happens.
I’ve also tried increasing boot delay time in the BIOS, secure boot disabled and fast boot both on and off.
