Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
What happened
Obsidian repeatedly terminated with SIGTRAP on the stock Omarchy configuration. The crashing process was:
/usr/lib/electron43/electron -disable-gpu --enable-wayland-ime /usr/lib/obsidian/app.asar
The core dump preserves Chromium’s fatal diagnostic:
FATAL:content/browser/gpu/gpu_data_manager_impl_private.cc:416
GPU process isn't usable. Goodbye.
Chromium then deliberately executes an int3 trap, which systemd-coredump records as SIGTRAP with si_code SI_KERNEL.
Recurrence
Two crashes occurred with the same fatal message and identical Electron stack offsets:
2026-09-17 19:30:30 EDT — PID 3734, during an obsidian --version invocation
2026-09-18 08:01:40 EDT — PID 4765, after the application had been running for about 12.5 hours
Omarchy configuration
Omarchy 4.0.4-1 ships:
/usr/share/omarchy/config/obsidian/user-flags.conf
containing:
-disable-gpu
--enable-wayland-ime
The same content was present in:
~/.config/obsidian/user-flags.conf
Workaround and smoke test
Removing only the -disable-gpu line allowed an isolated Obsidian instance to remain running for a 15-second smoke test. There were no GPU/FATAL messages and no new core dump. This short test confirms that startup works without the flag, although it does not by itself prove long-term stability.
Expected behavior
Stock Omarchy configuration should not place Obsidian on a graphics path that can make Chromium exhaust its usable GPU-process modes and terminate the entire application.
Ruled out
- No OOM kill or memory pressure; approximately 51 GiB was available and swap was unused.
- No i915 GPU reset, hang, or fault in the kernel journal.
- No package update near either crash.
- Package integrity checks found no altered Obsidian or Electron files.
- No unowned native shared libraries were loaded.
- No note deletion or system-trash activity occurred around the crash.
System
Omarchy: 4.0.4-1
Kernel: 7.2.6-arch2-Watanare-T2-2-t2
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 630 [8086:3e9b]
Driver: i915
Obsidian: 1.13.7-2
Electron: 43.6.0-1
Related issue
#4508 reported degraded Obsidian behavior from the same forced GPU-disabling flag, but it was closed because its broader launcher complaint became obsolete when Quattro replaced the old launcher surfaces. This report concerns the still-shipped flag and a distinct fatal crash signature.
Note
omarchy debug --no-sudo --print is not available in Omarchy 4.0.4-1, so the relevant diagnostics were gathered directly.
