ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Prevent multiple Omarchy Wi-Fi terminal instancesrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:42 UTC via poll

What's wrong?

Clicking the Wi-Fi launcher repeatedly spawns multiple terminal instances for the Omarchy terminal (impala). This results in duplicate windows/processes instead of a single instance. We want a minimal, safe change that prevents multiple instances from being launched.

Actual behavior

Each click on the Wi-Fi launcher creates a new uwsm-app/impala process even if one is already running.

Desired behavior

If an impala instance already exists, the launcher should not spawn another instance.

Steps to reproduce

  • Click the Wi-Fi icon / launch the configured script.
  • Confirm impala opens.
  • Click the Wi-Fi icon again multiple times.
  • Observe multiple impala processes / windows created.

Proposed fix
Replace the launcher script with a single-instance check that only launches when no instance is running.

#!/bin/bash

APP_ID="com.omarchy.Impala"
CMD="impala"

# Find existing instance PID
PID=$(pgrep -f "$CMD")

if [ -n "$PID" ]; then
  echo "Instance already running (PID: $PID). Focusing..."
  uwsm-client focus "$APP_ID" 2>/dev/null || \
  xdotool search --class "Impala" windowactivate 2>/dev/null || \
  echo "Unable to focus existing window."
else
  echo "No instance found. Launching new one..."
  exec setsid uwsm-app -- xdg-terminal-exec --app-id="$APP_ID" -e "$CMD" "$@"
