Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Original report
What happened
The default window rule for omacalc in default/hypr/apps/system.lua is:
o.window("omacalc", { float = true })This only floats the window — it never sets center or a size. Sibling
app rules in the same file pair float = true with center = true
(Tensaku, LocalSend, Battle.net's launcher), and Steam's rule additionally
sets an explicit size. omacalc is the only entry in that group missing
both.
Because there's no size/center rule, once the window gets floated back
from a tiled/fullscreen state (e.g. via the default SUPER+F fullscreen
toggle, or SUPER+T after it was tiled), it keeps whatever geometry it
last had — including full-monitor size/position — instead of returning to
a small centered window. hyprctl clients reports floating: 1 even
though the window visually still looks fullscreen, edge-to-edge, with no
gaps.
What was expected
omacalc should reopen (or return from fullscreen/tiling) as a small,
centered floating window, consistent with how Tensaku/LocalSend/Steam
behave.
Steps to reproduce
- Open Omacalc (it opens floating but sized/positioned like a tiled
window rather than centered).
2. Press SUPER + F (fullscreen toggle) to go fullscreen.
3. Press SUPER + F again to exit fullscreen.
4. The window returns to floating: 1 but stays sized to the monitor /
last tiled geometry instead of a small centered window.
Workaround verified
Adding this user override fixes it:
o.window("omacalc", { center = true, size = { 420, 640 } })Suggests the real fix is adding center = true (and ideally an explicitsize) to the default omacalc rule in system.lua, matching the other
apps in that file.

**What happened**
The default window rule for `omacalc` in `default/hypr/apps/system.lua` is:
```lua
o.window("omacalc", { float = true })
```
This only floats the window — it never sets `center` or a `size`. Sibling
app rules in the same file pair `float = true` with `center = true`
(Tensaku, LocalSend, Battle.net's launcher), and Steam's rule additionally
sets an explicit `size`. `omacalc` is the only entry in that group missing
both.
Because there's no size/center rule, once the window gets floated back
from a tiled/fullscreen state (e.g. via the default `SUPER+F` fullscreen
toggle, or `SUPER+T` after it was tiled), it keeps whatever geometry it
last had — including full-monitor size/position — instead of returning to
a small centered window. `hyprctl clients` reports `floating: 1` even
though the window visually still looks fullscreen, edge-to-edge, with no
gaps.
**What was expected**
`omacalc` should reopen (or return from fullscreen/tiling) as a small,
centered floating window, consistent with how Tensaku/LocalSend/Steam

**Steps to reproduce**
1. Open Omacalc (it opens floating but sized/positioned like a tiled
window rather than centered).
2. Press `SUPER + F` (fullscreen toggle) to go fullscreen.
3. Press `SUPER + F` again to exit fullscreen.
4. The window returns to `floating: 1` but stays sized to the monitor /
last tiled geometry instead of a small centered window.
**Workaround verified**
Adding this user override fixes it:
```lua
o.window("omacalc", { center = true, size = { 420, 640 } })
```
Suggests the real fix is adding `center = true` (and ideally an explicit
`size`) to the default `omacalc` rule in `system.lua`, matching the other
apps in that file.
