Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

System details

AMD 9950X3D, RTX 4090

What's wrong?

First of all, love the effort you all put into Omarchy to make it a smooth and powerful linux experience.

When auto-cycling through the screensavers (default settings), I noticed that when the green Matrix screensaver kicks in, my fans spin up higher quite a bit. When it is finished and switches to other screensavers the fans spin down again. I did some checks with system activity open and after switching back and forth with the screensaver I can see it's mainly the GPU.

For me, this isn't a big issue, my card can handle and the fan is just annoying. But I can imagine for people on lower powered systems (with onboard GPU), this could cause issues / unresponsiveness.
