Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Screenshot causes rotated monitor to flip upside down temporarilyrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:49 UTC via poll

System details

Omarchy 3.3.3 - Ryzen 7, 4080 super

What's wrong?

Omarchy version: 3.3.3
Compositor: Hyprland
Display setup: Multi-monitor, one output rotated (non-zero transform)

Description:

After updating to Omarchy 3.3.3, triggering the screenshot command from the Omarchy menu causes my rotated secondary monitor to appear upside down while the screenshot selection is active. Once the screenshot completes, the monitor immediately returns to the correct orientation.

The issue only occurs during the screenshot flow and does not affect the actual monitor configuration.

Steps to reproduce:

Use a multi-monitor setup with one monitor rotated via Hyprland (transform ≠ 0)

Trigger the Omarchy screenshot command (menu or keybind)

While selecting a region/window, observe the rotated monitor flip upside down

Complete or cancel the screenshot

Monitor returns to normal orientation

Expected behavior:

Screenshots should not affect visual orientation of rotated displays.

Actual behavior

The rotated monitor is composited upside down during the screenshot selection phase only.

Root cause:

The screenshot script uses wayfreeze to freeze the screen during selection. wayfreeze seemingly now does not respect output transforms on rotated monitors, causing the temporary inversion. The underlying monitor config is never changed.

Removing wayfreeze from the screenshot pipeline resolves the issue entirely. Using grim + slurp without a freeze overlay works correctly and does not trigger the problem.

Relevant script:

~/.local/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-cmd-screenshot

The issue is caused by these lines (present in region, windows, and smart modes):

wayfreeze & PID=$!
sleep .1
...
kill $PID

Workaround:

Remove wayfreeze from the screenshot script, or conditionally disable it when any monitor has a non-zero transform.

Ideally:
Wayfreeze works like it did pre-update, I'm not smart enough to figure out if its an issue with wayfreeze or how to fix.
