Nautilus rename appears to be broken on long filenames

What's wrong?
Whenever I try to rename a file in Nautilus using F2 or right click & Rename
If at any time the filename is longer than the input box and if you use the arrow keys to navigate over the text, the navigation is all wrong/stuck especially from the end going back even though the actual navigation appears to work (if you mentally count the letters back/forth)
While making a filename longer yourself during the rename process, you can also see extra text appear in the box.
Sometimes the notifier for where the edit is happening also jumps with every letter you move (for example going to the end / beginning of the text using keyboard)
Is there anything I can do to resolve this (besides ensuring that the box is large enough at all times on my screen)
