Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
System details
- Omarchy 4.0.4-1, Hyprland 0.56.2, kernel 7.2.5-3-omarchy
- Dell XPS 14 DA14260, BIOS 1.10.1 (fwupd: latest)
- Intel Panther Lake Arc B390 (8086:b080), xe driver
- Dell Pro Dock WD25 (USB-C DP alt-mode, not Thunderbolt)
- MST: Synaptics VMM8431, firmware 9.04.001 (updated via fwupd from 9.03.008; Dell notes claimed better monitor compatibility)
- Two Acer K273 1920x1080 on the dock
What's wrong
Boot while docked: both Acers work (DRM MST DP-7 / DP-9). Undock, then redock: USB on the dock comes back, DisplayPort does not, until a full reboot. Hyprland layout is not the bug; the kernel never recreates the MST connectors.
This survived:
- xe.enable_dc=0 (applied, kernel tainted, redock still failed)
- WD25 MST firmware 9.03.008 → 9.04.001
- Physical USB-C unplug/replug
- DRM detect, Type-C configuration=source, USB hub authorized reset
Linux cannot force DP alt-mode (firmware doesn't support alternate mode overriding). After the 9.04.001 + reboot test, this boot also logged:
ucsi_acpi USBC000:00: error -ETIMEDOUT: PPM init failed/sys/class/typec is now empty. USB (xHCI) still enumerates the WD25. Hypothesis: GOP/xe can pick up an already-trained DP link at boot, but after unplug Linux needs UCSI to re-enter DP alt-mode and PPM init has failed.
Expected
Redock restores both Acers without a reboot.
Actual
Laptop panel only. ls /sys/class/drm has DP-1/DP-2/DP-3/eDP-1 only (no DP-4…DP-9). When Type-C sysfs existed, partner DP was configuration=[USB], pin_assignment=A, hpd=0.
Repro
1. Boot docked, confirm two externals in hyprctl monitors all.
2. Unplug USB-C, wait, plug back in.
3. USB devices work. Acers stay black.
4. Reboot while docked. Acers return.
Diagnostics
Local notes: ~/.dockresearch on the machine (README + experiment log). omarchy-debug --no-sudo --print captured 2026-09-17.
Related Omarchy history on this chassis: #5573 (XPS 14 eDP freeze / xe DSB), #5953 (XPS 14 power loss). This one is WD25 DP-MST + ucsi_acpi.
