Proof Portal
Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.
Steam games (xwayland) won't fullscreen.

What's wrong?
EPILEPSY WARNING
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfNDEiaN8Bc
Steam games don't fullscreen and instead rapidly flicker in size and position. Mashing Super-F can sometimes get them to maximise in line with waybar. Further mashing can sometimes get a true fullscreen, other times they z-fight with waybar. Setting the game to windowed (via in game settings) works, but then attempting to fullscreen, either from within the game or with Super-F resumes the behaviour.
I've been having this issue for a while. There's a youtube video linked here: https://github.com/basecamp/omarchy/issues/1448#issuecomment-3255602265 that has a very similar issue.
That same thread also provides a fix that is out of date and doesn't work for me.
I can work around this in many cases using either Gamescope or Proton-GE's wayland driver, however this does not work for all games, and each have their own tradeoffs.
I've googled around a lot and can't find much discussion of people running into similar issues aside from what's linked above so I presume it's relatively rare? I can't find any mention of similar on the hyprland reddit/github either. There's also no exact match in the Omarchy Discord, but lots of people recommending gamescope.
Is this a known issue with Omarchy/Hyprland/Wayland or a known Nvidia issue?
I have attempted purging all Steam related config from Omarchy to no avail.
Any ideas appreciated
