Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

USB hub tree enumerates then disconnects; keyboard and mouse never stay attached (AMD Raven xHCI, linux-omarchy 7.2.5-3)revision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:23 UTC via poll

System details

Dell Inspiron 3585, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U / Radeon Vega (Raven Ridge), Omarchy 4.0.4-1, linux-omarchy 7.2.5-3, Hyprland 0.56.2

What's wrong?

On this Omarchy laptop a desk USB hub enumerates on boot, the keyboard and mouse appear for a few seconds, then the entire hub tree disconnects and does not come back. Hyprland never keeps the devices because the kernel has already dropped them.

The same hub and devices work on another laptop. HDMI to the Iiyama PL3494WQ works on this machine. This is not an input-config / Hyprland ignore issue.

Devices on the hub (when it enumerates)

  • GenesysLogic USB2.0 Hub 05e3:0610 (and on a good USB3 connect also 05e3:0612)
  • Realtek 4-port hub 0bda:5420 / USB3 0bda:0420
  • Realtek USB gigabit LAN 0bda:8153 (r8152-cfgselector resets it during probe)
  • Logitech Unifying receiver 046d:c52b → MX Master 3 (046d:4082)
  • Das Keyboard P13 24f0:0105
  • Logitech C270 webcam 046d:0825
  • AudioQuest DragonFly Black 21b4:0083
  • Nested Terminus hubs 1a40:0101

Typical path: usb 3-1 → 3-1.1 → 3-1.1.3 → keyboard/mouse/webcam/DAC.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Boot Omarchy with the hub already plugged into a laptop USB port (left-side AMD xHCI 04:00.4, port usb3-port1).
  2. Watch kernel USB: hub and HID devices appear.
  3. Within ~4–15 seconds the whole usb 3-1 tree disconnects.
  4. After that every external USB port stays state=not attached. HDMI can still come up independently.

Reproduced across multiple boots (2026-09-16 evening and 2026-09-17 morning/afternoon). One boot (10:54–12:55) never saw the hub at all.

Expected

Hub stays enumerated. Das Keyboard P13 and Logitech MX Master 3 remain as /dev/input devices and show up in hyprctl devices.

Actual

This boot:

  • 12:57:19 hub connects on usb 3-1 (GenesysLogic 05e3:0610)
  • MX Master 3 is created (logitech-hidpp-device)
  • 12:57:23 entire tree disconnects (no over-current)
  • 12:57:26 reconnects, MX Master 3 again
  • 12:57:36 entire tree disconnects and never returns
  • lsusb afterwards is only internal devices (webcam, fingerprint, BT, card reader)
  • hyprctl devices shows only the laptop keyboard/touchpad
  • After reseating, HDMI-A-1 (Iiyama PL3494WQ 3440x1440) is connected; every external USB port is still not attached

No over-current, no unable to enumerate, no error -71. Clean USB disconnect of the root hub device.

r8152-cfgselector resets the dock ethernet (0bda:8153) during the same window as the cascade disconnect.

On 2026-09-16 19:46 the hub once enumerated as USB3 on the other controller (usb1-2 / usb2-2, GenesysLogic 05e3:0612 + Realtek 0bda:0420) and the Das Keyboard appeared; later reconnects on usb 3-1 were USB2-only and still dropped.

Logs (expire 24h)

Notes

Not a duplicate of #10453 (Thunderbolt module vs firmware dock) or #11908 (USB-C DP-alt / UCSI after suspend). This Dell has no Type-C class/UCSI; video is native HDMI-A-1. The failure is AMD Raven xhci_hcd dropping a GenesysLogic + Realtek nested hub tree.

### System details

Dell Inspiron 3585, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U / Radeon Vega (Raven Ridge), Omarchy 4.0.4-1, linux-omarchy 7.2.5-3, Hyprland 0.56.2

### What's wrong?

On this Omarchy laptop a desk USB hub enumerates on boot, the keyboard and mouse appear for a few seconds, then the **entire hub tree disconnects** and does not come back. Hyprland never keeps the devices because the kernel has already dropped them.

The same hub and devices work on another laptop. HDMI to the Iiyama PL3494WQ works on this machine. This is not an input-config / Hyprland ignore issue.

## Devices on the hub (when it enumerates)

- GenesysLogic USB2.0 Hub `05e3:0610` (and on a good USB3 connect also `05e3:0612`)
- Realtek 4-port hub `0bda:5420` / USB3 `0bda:0420`
- Realtek USB gigabit LAN `0bda:8153` (`r8152-cfgselector` resets it during probe)
- Logitech Unifying receiver `046d:c52b` → MX Master 3 (`046d:4082`)
- Das Keyboard P13 `24f0:0105`
- Logitech C270 webcam `046d:0825`
- AudioQuest DragonFly Black `21b4:0083`
- Nested Terminus hubs `1a40:0101`

Typical path: `usb 3-1` → `3-1.1` → `3-1.1.3` → keyboard/mouse/webcam/DAC.

## Steps to reproduce

1. Boot Omarchy with the hub already plugged into a laptop USB port (left-side AMD xHCI `04:00.4`, port `usb3-port1`).
2. Watch kernel USB: hub and HID devices appear.
3. Within ~4–15 seconds the whole `usb 3-1` tree disconnects.
4. After that every external USB port stays `state=not attached`. HDMI can still come up independently.

Reproduced across multiple boots (2026-09-16 evening and 2026-09-17 morning/afternoon). One boot (10:54–12:55) never saw the hub at all.

## Expected

Hub stays enumerated. Das Keyboard P13 and Logitech MX Master 3 remain as `/dev/input` devices and show up in `hyprctl devices`.

## Actual

This boot:

- 12:57:19 hub connects on `usb 3-1` (GenesysLogic `05e3:0610`)
- MX Master 3 is created (`logitech-hidpp-device`)
- 12:57:23 entire tree disconnects (no over-current)
- 12:57:26 reconnects, MX Master 3 again
- 12:57:36 entire tree disconnects and never returns
- `lsusb` afterwards is only internal devices (webcam, fingerprint, BT, card reader)
- `hyprctl devices` shows only the laptop keyboard/touchpad
- After reseating, HDMI-A-1 (Iiyama PL3494WQ 3440x1440) is connected; every external USB port is still `not attached`

No `over-current`, no `unable to enumerate`, no `error -71`. Clean `USB disconnect` of the root hub device.

`r8152-cfgselector` resets the dock ethernet (`0bda:8153`) during the same window as the cascade disconnect.

On 2026-09-16 19:46 the hub once enumerated as USB3 on the other controller (`usb1-2` / `usb2-2`, GenesysLogic `05e3:0612` + Realtek `0bda:0420`) and the Das Keyboard appeared; later reconnects on `usb 3-1` were USB2-only and still dropped.
