Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Waybar tooltip appears transparent in screenshotsrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:49 UTC via poll

Description

When taking a screenshot (via omarchy-cmd-screenshot) that includes a Waybar tooltip (hover info), the tooltip appears semi-transparent/washed out in the captured image, even though it looks fully opaque on screen.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Hover over a Waybar module to show a tooltip (e.g. network widget)
  2. Take a screenshot with Print key (uses omarchy-cmd-screenshot)
  3. The tooltip in the saved PNG has visible transparency — you can see the background bleeding through

Expected behavior

The screenshot should match what is displayed on screen — tooltip fully opaque with solid background.

Cause

grim captures the raw Wayland surface including the alpha channel. Hyprland composites layer surfaces (like Waybar tooltips) properly on screen, but the screencopy buffer preserves the raw alpha, resulting in transparency in the PNG output.

System info

  • Hyprland 0.54.0
  • grim (via omarchy-cmd-screenshot)
  • Waybar
