ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

What's wrong?

Bluetooth audio not working on fresh install — missing PipeWire packages

Describe the bug

On a fresh Omarchy installation, Bluetooth audio devices (headphones/headsets) are paired and connected via bluetoothctl but do not appear in PipeWire as audio sinks or sources. The audio output/input UI shows no Bluetooth devices.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Fresh Omarchy install
  2. Pair and connect a Bluetooth audio device via bluetoothctl
  3. Run pactl list cards short — Bluetooth device is absent
  4. Run pactl list modules short | grep -i blue — PipeWire Bluetooth module is not loaded

Root cause

The following PipeWire packages are not included in the default Omarchy installation:

  • pipewire-pulse
  • pipewire-alsa
  • pipewire-audio

Only pipewire and libpipewire are installed out of the box, which is insufficient for Bluetooth audio support.

Fix

sudo pacman -S pipewire-pulse pipewire-alsa pipewire-audio
systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber

After this, reconnecting the Bluetooth device makes it appear correctly in PipeWire and the audio UI.

Environment

PackageVersion
PipeWire1.6.2
WirePlumber0.5.13
bluez5.86
Omarchyfresh install

Expected behavior

Bluetooth audio devices should work out of the box on a fresh Omarchy install.

Additional context

Device tested: Sony ULT WEAR — presents Audio Sink, Headset, and Handsfree profiles via bluetoothctl info.
