Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

ThinkPad T480 (Kaby Lake-R, i5-8350U)
What's wrong?
Environment
- Host: ThinkPad T480 (Kaby Lake-R, i7-8650U)
- GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620 / 00:02.0 / device 0x5917 (gen 9.5)
- Panel: eDP BOE NV140FHM-N46, [email protected] Hz
- Session: Wayland, Hyprland 0.56.2 via SDDM + uwsm
- Kernel: linux-omarchy 7.2.5-3-omarchy (2026-09-14), installed 2026-09-16
- Prev kernel: linux 7.2.3-arch1-3 (stock Arch) — no issues
- Stack: Mesa 26.2.2, libdrm 2.4.134, intel-media-driver 26.2.4, no i915.* cmdline overrides
Symptom:
Screen randomly flickers/glitches since switching to linux-omarchy 7.2.5-3.
Log evidence
Recurring kernel errors, absent on all pre-update boots:
i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] ERROR CPU pipe A FIFO underrun
Per-boot error counts after the switch: 2 (first boot 7.2.5), 1, 2, 1 — zero on the last 7.2.3-arch1-3 boot.
Hypothesis:
Enabled-by-default i915 power features (DC5/DC6, PSR, FBC, SAGV) on Kaby Lake trigger FIFO underruns — either a regression or a chip-default change in the 7.2.5 kernel. Kernel module strings confirm the link ("Disabling FBC due to FIFO underrun.", "Re-allowing FBC after fifo underrun").
- Not yet bisected. Plan: test 7.2.3-arch1-3 for a day, then try i915.enable_dc=0, enable_fbc=0, enable_psr=0, enable_sagv=0.
