Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

unreadable arabic typefacerevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:56 UTC via poll

System details

Ryzen 7 5700, Radeon RX 6800 PC, omarchy 3.5.1

What's wrong?

The current system font (JetBrains Mono Nerd Font) has no Arabic glyphs, so Arabic text falls back to Liberation Sans which has poor Arabic typeface rendering and is hard to read. Many apps and the desktop show unreadable Arabic text.
Steps to recreate:
1. Set system font to JetBrains Mono Nerd Font (or any monospace font without Arabic)
2. Open any app that shows Arabic text (file manager, terminal, etc.)
3. Arabic text renders in Liberation Sans with poor readability
Expected behavior:
Arabic text should use a proper Arabic typeface like IBM Plex Sans Arabic or Noto Sans Arabic UI which have proper Arabic glyphs.
Debug output:
System font: JetBrainsMono Nerd Font
Arabic fallback: Liberation Sans (detected via fc-match arabic)

also it has UI issues because the glyphs go up and steam breaks ui sometimes

this issue is system wide not just steam

The older typeface was barable but this new one is horrible i had to issue this bug,
