Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.
Obsidian PDF previews render blank after May 7 update on Dell XPS 16 Panther Lake

System details
Dell XPS 16 DA16260, Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, Panther Lake X-series, Intel Panther Lake [Arc B390] GPU [8086:b080], Hyprland/Wayland, kernel 7.0.3-arch1-1-ptl, Omarchy 3.8.0 dev branch at 0e6e2923.
What's wrong?
## Summary
After running an Omarchy/system update on May 7, 2026, Obsidian PDF previews/viewer pages rendered blank. The PDFs are valid
and render in external tools. Disabling PDF++ did not change the behavior.
Rolling back the packages below fixed the issue immediately:
- electron39: 39.8.10-1 -> 39.8.9-1
- libdrm: 2.4.133-1 -> 2.4.131-1
- obsidian: 1.12.7-2 -> 1.12.7-1
Obsidian itself had already been on 1.12.7-2 since May 4, so the strongest suspects are electron39 39.8.10-1 and/or libdrm
2.4.133-1.
## Environment
- Omarchy: 3.8.0, dev branch
- Omarchy commit at time checked: 0e6e2923
- Machine: Dell XPS 16 DA16260
- CPU: Intel Core Ultra X7 358H
- GPU: Intel Panther Lake [Arc B390] [8086:b080]
- Session: Wayland / Hyprland
- Obsidian: 1.12.7
## Package Timeline
From pacman log:
[2026-05-04T17:03:02-0400] upgraded obsidian (1.12.7-1 -> 1.12.7-2)
[2026-05-07T16:06:57-0400] upgraded libdrm (2.4.131-1 -> 2.4.133-1)
[2026-05-07T16:06:58-0400] upgraded electron39 (39.8.9-1 -> 39.8.10-1)## What I Tried
- Verified PDFs are not corrupt; they render with external PDF tools.
- Disabled PDF++; behavior did not change.
- Cleared Obsidian/Electron render caches.
- Removed custom Electron flags and launched Obsidian with clean package defaults.
- Rolled back electron39, libdrm, and obsidian from pacman cache; PDF rendering started working again.
## Notes
The Omarchy commit 402da79f about installing hardware video acceleration for non-X-series Panther Lake does not appear to have
triggered here. Its migration checks for a display line containing intel graphics, while this machine reports:
Intel Corporation Panther Lake [Arc B390]
Also, intel-media-driver, libvpl, and vpl-gpu-rt were installed before that commit.
## Workaround
Rollback command that fixed it:
pkexec pacman -U --noconfirm \
/var/cache/pacman/pkg/electron39-39.8.9-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst \
/var/cache/pacman/pkg/libdrm-2.4.131-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst \
/var/cache/pacman/pkg/obsidian-1.12.7-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
## Expected
Obsidian PDF viewer/previews render PDF pages normally.
## Actual
PDF preview/viewer area is blank.
I’d file it against Omarchy first because the regression appeared through the Omarchy update path on Omarchy-supported XPS/Panther Lake hardware.
