Hyprland 0.55.0 breaks defaults: sendshortcut, -1 colors, pseudotilerevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:56 UTC via poll

Environment

  • Omarchy version: latest
  • Hyprland version: 0.55.0 (built May 9 2026)

Issues

1. -1 no longer valid as a color value

File: default/hypr/looknfeel.conf lines 53-54

col.border_locked_active = -1
col.border_locked_inactive = -1

Hyprland 0.55 removed -1 as a "use default" color sentinel. These now produce:

Error parsing gradient -1: failed to parse -1 as a color

Fix: Replace with actual color values (e.g. use the $activeBorderColor / $inactiveBorderColor variables already defined in the file).

2. dwindle:pseudotile option removed

File: default/hypr/looknfeel.conf line 111

dwindle {
    pseudotile = true
}

This config option no longer exists in Hyprland 0.55. Produces:

config option <dwindle:pseudotile> does not exist.

Fix: Remove the line entirely.

3. sendshortcut dispatcher broken (Actions::pass regression)

Files:
- default/hypr/bindings/clipboard.conf — copy/paste/cut all use sendshortcut
- config/elephant/symbols.toml — uses hyprctl dispatch sendshortcut

The sendshortcut dispatcher silently fails in Hyprland 0.55. Keybinds fire but the shortcut never reaches the focused window. The hyprctl dispatch path is also affected (returns invalid args).

Workaround used locally: replaced sendshortcut with execr + wtype scripts (sleep delay required to avoid SUPER modifier interference with typed characters).

Impact

  • All clipboard shortcuts (SUPER+C/V/X) do nothing
  • Elephant symbol picker cannot paste selected symbols
  • hyprctl configerrors reports errors on startup

## Issues

### 1. `-1` no longer valid as a color value
