Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Non-US keyboard layout not applied at LUKS decrypt prompt after 3.8.x updaterevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 11:56 UTC via poll

System details

SUS MB, Intel i7-4770, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti | Omarchy version: 3.8.2 | Keyboard Layout: it (Italian) | Install method: existing installation (updated from previous version)

What's wrong?

After updating to Omarchy 3.8.x, the keyboard layout at the LUKS decryption prompt reverted to US, even though vconsole.conf and all other configs had the correct layout (it in my case).

System: Italian keyboard layout (it)

Fix: adding vconsole.keymap=it explicitly to the kernel cmdline:

echo 'KERNEL_CMDLINE[default]+=" vconsole.keymap=it"' | sudo tee /etc/limine-entry-tool.d/keyboard.conf
sudo limine-mkinitcpio

This suggests Plymouth is no longer reading the keymap from the initramfs correctly after the recent boot/Plymouth changes in 3.8.0
