ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

omarchy-audio-tuning fronted-sink ignores community omarchy_speaker_tuning sinksrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:23 UTC via poll

Bug Description

omarchy-audio-output-switch skips the physical sink returned by omarchy-audio-tuning fronted-sink so a speaker-tuning filter is not listed as a second Speakers device. fronted-sink only returns a sink when tuning_match hits a shipped DMI/SKU laptop tuning.

Community plugins (e.g. thefreshoffice/omarchy-speaker-calibrator) already create omarchy_speaker_tuning with playback.props.target.object pointing at the real speakers. On a desktop fronted-sink prints nothing, so Ctrl+^ and the sound menu show Speakers + Headphones + the virtual sink (Pulse description empty → OSD \"null\"; Quickshell shows the graph title \"Calibrated Speakers — Protected\"). Selecting the hardware Speakers bypasses the EQ. Games that call Pulse SetDefaultEndpoint can do the same.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install a plugin that provides omarchy_speaker_tuning (not an Omarchy SKU tuning).
  2. Run omarchy audio tuning fronted-sink — empty.
  3. Run omarchy-audio-output-switch — rotation includes both the virtual sink and the physical speakers.

Expected Behavior

If omarchy_speaker_tuning is present, fronted-sink should return the sink that filter plays into (omarchy-audio-output-sink omarchy_speaker_tuning / target.object), even when no shipped laptop tuning matched.

Then stock Ctrl+^ and the stock audio panel hide the raw speakers for every community calibrator. Volume keys already resolve through the DSP sink via omarchy-audio-output-sink.

Actual Behavior

fronted-sink requires tuned_hardware_sink → tuning_match → DMI/SKU. No match → empty → three outputs.

Environment

  • Omarchy 4.0.4
  • Desktop USB speakers + USB-C headphones
  • Plugin virtual sink omarchy_speaker_tuning active

`omarchy-audio-output-switch` skips the physical sink returned by `omarchy-audio-tuning fronted-sink` so a speaker-tuning filter is not listed as a second Speakers device. `fronted-sink` only returns a sink when `tuning_match` hits a **shipped DMI/SKU laptop** tuning.
