Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.
hyprctl -j binds produces invalid JSON due to unquoted Lua binding values (jq parse error)

AMD Ryzen 5 5500U, AMD Lucienne (integrated), Omarchy 4.0.0.alpha (dev branch), Hyprland 0.56.0, Linux 7.1.4-1-cachyos
What's wrong?
Hi, after the last Omarchy update the keybindings menu (omarchy-menu-keybindings) stopped showing all bindings.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Update Omarchy/Hyprland to the versions below
2. Run:
omarchy-menu-keybindings
3. Observe:
jq: parse error: Invalid numeric literal at line 15, column 36
The same error can be reproduced directly with:
hyprctl -j binds | jq .
Root cause:
The JSON output from hyprctl -j binds contains unquoted values, e.g.:
"key": "false",
"keycode": XF86AudioRaiseVolume,
"allow_input_capture": Volume up,
XF86AudioRaiseVolume and Volume up are not quoted strings, which makes the output invalid JSON.
This appears to originate from the Lua bindings in ~/.local/share/omarchy/default/hypr/bindings/media.lua, for example:
o.bind("XF86AudioRaiseVolume", "Volume up", "omarchy-swayosd-client --output-volume raise", { locked = true, repeating = true })
Commit: 159a4d1d98124174826b330eed6241a91cc124dd
Expected behavior:
hyprctl -j binds should output valid JSON so tools relying on it (like omarchy-menu-keybindings) work correctly.
Possible root cause:
This might actually originate in Hyprland's JSON serialization of binds created via the Lua hl.bind() API rather than in Omarchy's Lua wrapper — o.bind() just calls into that API. If so, feel free to redirect this upstream to hyprwm/Hyprland; happy to help track it down further if useful.
